The Further Education Department at The Clare School caters for pupils aged 16 – 19. The aim of our department is to enable all pupils to develop their independence skills and their functional skills, that is, transferring the skills they have learnt in the classroom into how they use them in everyday life. We aim to help pupils to develop skills that will enable them to progress to college courses or work based learning after they have left The Clare School.
As far as possible, learning is personalised to the needs of the individual. There is a wide range of accreditation available that underpins everyday learning. Some of the courses we are able to offer include the ASDAN Diploma in Life Skills, ASDAN ‘Towards Independence’ certificates, Entry Level qualification in Humanities and English, GCSE Art, Functional Skills Awards in Literacy, the TITAN (Travel Independence Training Across the Nation) Awards and the British Safety Council Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace.
