Pre Formal / Semi Formal Teacher

The Clare School is looking to appoint a full time Pre-Formal/Semi-Formal Teacher starting in September 2021.   We are a warm and welcoming school, which was graded as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted at its last inspection.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Pre-Formal/Semi-Formal Teacher who will work with some of the most complex pupils in our school.  Pupils at The Clare School have a wide range of learning, physical, sensory, communication and medical needs. 

You will plan inspiring learning activities and support our pupils to engage in meaningful, fun lessons.  You will be kind and patient, enabling our pupils to achieve to their highest ability.  You will provide help and support, but foster independence wherever possible.  You will role model a love for learning and show enthusiasm for working with our children and young people.

You don’t need to have any experience working with Complex Needs pupils or any specific training – we will support you with all the training that you need.  We are just looking for someone who wants to work with our fantastic pupils and who wants to make every day amazing.

Visits to the school can be arranged after school hours wearing appropriate PPE.

Personal and Physical Support Assistant

The Clare School is looking to appoint a Personal and Physical Support Assistant.  We are a warm and welcoming school, which was graded as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted at its last inspection.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Physical and Personal Support Assistant who will support the whole range of children and young people throughout the school.  Pupils at The Clare School have a wide range of learning, physical, sensory, communication and medical needs. 

You will assist pupils who have reduced continence control with their toileting, cleaning and changing, at all times ensuring that the pupils are comfortable and treated with dignity.  You will also help pupils with their postural management such as supporting them with walking, using standing frames and supporting and encouraging them to participate in their physiotherapy routines.  Part of this role will involve helping pupils with their feeding and drinking, including gastrostomy feeding.  Full training will be provided

We would welcome applications for job share, part time or reduced hours working for the right candidate.  Visits to the school to meet our fantastic pupils are encouraged.

  •  Has NVQ level 1 or equivalent
  •  Is reliable and trustworthy
  •  Has an exemplary attendance record

Midday Supervisors

We are looking for midday supervisors to feed and support pupils under the direction of the Support Staff Lead and Headteacher.  You will supervise children in all areas of the school, including the dining room, play areas and classroom in order to ensure the safety and good behaviour of the children.Duties include supervision of the children during their meal to ensure that a good atmosphere is maintained and encouraging good eating habits while assisting younger children where necessary.  You will be required to carry out feeder training and attend any other relevant training.  Help with personal care may be needed.

Visits to the school can be arranged between 4 pm and 4.30 pm.  PPE to be worn.

SPECIALIST SUPPORT ASSISTANT

  • Salary – £10.00 per hour
  • Temporary – 1 year initially (may lead to permanent contract)
  • Part Time
  • 32.5 hours per week
  • Term Time plus 1 week

You will assist pupils with their learning activities and support them to engage in the curriculum and classroom lessons.  You will be kind and patient, enabling our pupils to achieve to their highest ability.  You will provide help and support, but foster independence wherever possible.  You will role model a love for learning and show enthusiasm for working with our children and young people.

We are looking for persons who:

  • Have NVQ level 2 in childcare or equivalent childcare qualifications
  • Are reliable and trustworthy
  • Have an exemplary attendance record
  • Have a positive attitude with a ‘can do’ approach
  • Are caring and committed to the highest standards of support for our pupils
